World Investor Week (WIW) is a week-long global campaign led by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), aimed at raising awareness about the importance of investor education and protection and highlighting the various initiatives undertaken by securities regulators in these two critical areas.

  I. Enhance Risk-Response Capabilities

We call on investors to actively study the “Futures and Derivatives Law,” pay close attention to newly launched or higher-risk products and services such as ETF options and over-the-counter options, and take proactive measures to guard against associated risks. We also urge investors to strengthen their vigilance against risks posed by bond defaults, private equity fund risks, “pig-butcher” scams, and other illegal securities and futures activities; to fully understand their rights, actively exercise those rights, and protect their interests in accordance with the law. Moreover, we encourage investors to enhance their risk awareness and adopt a rational, value-oriented, and long-term investment mindset.

  II. Sustainable Finance

We call on investors to adopt the concepts of green finance and green investment, actively learn about the green industries and related sector developments of listed companies, read the social responsibility reports and ESG reports of listed companies, and pay close attention to the progress in the design and deployment of green financial instruments such as green bonds, which are specifically tailored to support environmentally friendly and sustainable development projects.

ESG is an acronym for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is a value-based philosophy, investment strategy, and corporate evaluation standard that focuses on a company’s environmental, social, and governance performance rather than solely on its financial performance. ESG originated from Socially Responsible Investment (“SRI”) and represents the three most important considerations within SRI.

As an evaluation tool, ESG provides a multi-dimensional investment assessment framework and a measurable, comparable evaluation approach. As an investment strategy, ESG enables financial institutions and investors to shift their focus from traditional financial metrics to a comprehensive assessment of social impact, gradually making the integration of financial and social returns a mainstream investment orientation.

Risk Warning: The market involves risks; investment requires caution.
