At 10:00 a.m. on July 5, the groundbreaking ceremony for Sinopec Tianjin Branch's 150,000-ton-per-year sulfur recovery unit and its accompanying project was held at the sulfur project construction site of the Refining Department at Tianjin Petrochemical. Attendees included representatives from Sinopec (Tianjin) Petrochemical Co., Ltd.'s Refining Department, Tianjin Shijian Engineering Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., the construction subcontractor Tianjin Jinbin Petrochemical Equipment Co., Ltd., as well as personnel from our company and other related parties.

The atmosphere at the groundbreaking ceremony was both enthusiastic and solemn. The ceremony was presided over by Lü Tiejun, Deputy Chief of the Equipment Department at Tianjin Petrochemical Refining Division, who warmly congratulated everyone on the project's commencement and provided an overview of the background and significance behind the newly built 150,000-ton-per-year sulfur recovery unit along with its supporting facilities. According to Sinopec’s overall planning and strategic development goals, Tianjin Petrochemical embarked in 2020 on a project aimed at restructuring its existing refining products and upgrading oil quality standards, building upon its current refining units and associated systems. Currently, Tianjin Branch produces approximately 250,000 tons of sulfur annually, but its two existing sulfur recovery units no longer meet the requirements of national standards and regulations. Guided by a long-term vision of safety and environmental protection, and guided by the principle of comprehensive planning, the company plans to construct a new 150,000-ton-per-year sulfur recovery unit. Once completed, this new facility will serve as a backup to the existing sulfur units, ensuring compliance with national standards while delivering significant social and environmental benefits. Following his remarks, he emphasized that, as the EPC contractor for this project, our company has independently developed the "Sulfur Recovery Technology Without Online Furnace," which has reached domestically leading and internationally advanced levels. This innovative technology has made substantial contributions to the nation’s energy-saving and emission-reduction efforts, fostering a win-win situation for the client, society, and the environment. He also commended our company’s outstanding engineering expertise and meticulous project management practices.
As Liu Chunhua, Deputy Manager of the Tianjin Petrochemical Refining Department, announced the commencement of the 150,000-ton-per-year sulfur recovery project, it marks the official start of a new phase in the construction of the sulfur project.
With guidance and support from the owner and supervisor, as well as the joint efforts of all participating construction units, the project successfully completed its trial piling on June 22, 2024, officially marking the smooth start of construction. All parties expressed full confidence in the successful completion of the project.
Today's project is tomorrow's market. Our company will firmly establish the philosophy of "Safety First, Quality Supreme," strengthen project management, and consistently channel company resources—and align company policies—toward project success, leaving no stone unturned in advancing project construction. We are confident that, with the care and support from leaders at all levels within Tianjin Petrochemical, under the supervision and guidance of supervisory units, and with the seamless cooperation of all participating contractors, the newly built 150,000-ton-per-year sulfur recovery unit and its accompanying project will undoubtedly be completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards.
