From April 16 to 18, 2024, the Engineering Department of Sinopec Group Co., Ltd. hosted a review meeting for the draft of the industry standard "Technical Specification for Sulfur Recovery Heating Furnace Engineering in Petrochemical Industry." The meeting was organized by the Equipment Design and Technology Center Station of Sinopec and jointly sponsored by Shandong Sanwei Chemical Group Co., Ltd. Representatives from 20 organizations—including engineering companies affiliated with Sinopec, member units of CNPC and the Equipment Design and Technology Center Station, as well as manufacturers and construction firms specializing in sulfur recovery furnace linings—along with representatives from refining and chemical enterprises, attended the review session, totaling 37 participants.

The "Engineering Technical Specification for Sulfur Recovery Heaters in Petrochemical Industry" was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the "Fourth Batch of Industry Standard Development and Revision Plan for 2018" (No. [2018]73 from the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China). The drafting group conducted extensive surveys and research, carefully summarized practical experience, drew on relevant international standards and advanced foreign practices, and finalized the document after widely soliciting opinions. Shandong Sanwei Chemical Group Co., Ltd. served as the primary editor-in-chief of this standard, while Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. took on the role of the second editor-in-chief. Additionally, Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd. participated as contributing editors to this standard.

After nearly three days of review by the experts, the attending specialists unanimously approved the draft standard for submission. The standards review panel has now finalized the following overall opinion:
The meeting concluded that the development of this standard fills the gap in domestic engineering technical specifications for sulfur recovery heating furnaces. It provides detailed technical requirements covering process design, combustion design, mechanical design, furnace lining design, control system design, material selection, manufacturing, inspection, construction, acceptance procedures, as well as packaging and transportation—requirements that align closely with China's actual conditions and thus demonstrate strong guidance and practical applicability.
