On March 16, 2026, the core equipment for the sulfur recovery EPC project of the Guoneng Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrade Demonstration Project—undertaken by our company as the EPC general contractor—was precisely positioned: the sulfur-condensing cooler, weighing 33 metric tons, was lifted into place with “zero deviation and zero accidents.” This equipment cools high-temperature process gas to condense and liquefy sulfur, enabling efficient sulfur recovery and flue-gas purification, thereby significantly reducing sulfur content in the exhaust emissions and providing critical support for the unit’s long-term stable operation and clean production. In the face of challenges such as limited working space and stringent installation accuracy, the project team collaborated closely with the owner’s project team to develop a scientifically sound plan and rigorously control every stage, ensuring both lifting safety and quality. As a key hub for sulfur recovery and flue-gas purification, this equipment, once commissioned, will further reduce sulfur content in the exhaust emissions.
The company enjoys a strong cooperative relationship with Guoneng Baotou and has successively undertaken several major EPC and design projects for the latter, including the sulfur recovery unit for the Guoneng Baotou coal-to-olefins project and the sulfur recovery unit for the Guoneng Ningxia 4-million-ton-per-year indirect coal liquefaction project. Notably, the sulfur recovery unit for the Guoneng Baotou coal-to-olefins project, under the company’s EPC general contracting, was awarded the title of “2014 National Key Demonstration Project for Practical Environmental Protection Technologies” by the China Environmental Protection Industry Association. The current sulfur recovery EPC project for the coal-to-olefins upgrade demonstration project is a key initiative for the engineering company in 2026, employing the company’s independently developed “online-furnace-free sulfur recovery process technology,” which is domestically leading and internationally advanced. As a recognized “sulfur recovery expert” in the petrochemical and coal chemical industries, as of June 30, 2025, the company has cumulatively completed the design and EPC delivery of a total of 245 sulfur recovery units, with a combined capacity of 13.166 million tonnes per year—making it the domestic leader in the number of sulfur recovery units designed and delivered on an EPC basis.
Throughout the project construction process, all members of the Project Management Team have demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and mission, as well as a high degree of accountability to the Owner. Upholding the principles of standards-based guidance and lifelong responsibility, they have vigorously promoted the collaborative spirit of “one family, one heart, one drive, one goal,” and leveraged scientific management to fully meet the project’s construction requirements. Taking this equipment installation milestone as an opportunity, the Project Management Team will further strengthen integrated planning and scientific execution, with the ultimate aim of delivering a world-class facility.
Looking ahead, the company will continue to leverage its technological expertise and resource advantages in sulfur recovery and flue-gas purification, deepen strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as China Energy Group, and focus on the integrated innovation of new energy, new materials, and environmental protection technologies. By tackling key projects head-on, the company will contribute to the achievement of the “dual carbon” goals and inject green momentum into the high-quality development of the industry.
